Some good news and a story that will probably have Noe ending...

First, the good news! For those of you have followed my posting over the past few months about the lack of updated information by both the local Democrat and Republican party websites; Joe Birmingham is finally listed as being an elected official on the Lucas County Republican Party website.

According to the above linked Toledo Blade article, the Lucas County Republican party could be in a situation where they have to come up with $63,000 that was conveted into a loan to them from Tom Noe.

If the party is forced to come up with the money, it would worsen an already dismal financial situation. As of mid-December, the party had just $1,226 available.

In 2002, Mr. Noe loaned the party $40,000. It was almost immediately sent to Columbus to pay for television ads for Maggie Thurber, then running for Lucas County commissioner against incumbent Democrat Sandy Isenberg.

Two years later, Mr. Noe loaned the party another $25,000. Since then, the party has acknowledged paying back $2,000, leaving a balance of $63,000.

Dennis Lange says fundraising attempts have not gone well recently, Jon Stainbrook is claiming he has the ability to raise funds. Why he hasn't one wonders, it would seem if he really wanted to convice the Lucas County Republican Party that he is the right person for the Chairmanship position he'd demonstrate that he can do what Dennis Lange has not been able to do.

As a side note...the Democratic Party of Lucas County has still not corrected their list of elected officials. Frank Szollosi is apparently still "blacklisted" and Mark Sobczak was never added, though Taylor Balderas was.
