I expected him to be sentenced to less time however, according to the Toledo Blade:
He had faced one to five years in prison. He was sentenced by Judge James Bates, who ordered that the year sentence be served concurrently with a 27-month prison sentence handed down earlier in U.S. District Court, Toledo.

Your headline is sort of misleading.
He has already been sentenced to the 27 months on Federal charges.
What happened today was that Bates sentenced him to one year "to be served concurrently" with the federal charges. ("Concurrently' means that you are serving two (or more) sentences at the same time, as opposed to "running wild" {consecutively} where the multiple sentences are served one after another.)
Since the offenses where completely unrelated, McCloskey caught a break to have this sentence imposed concurrently.
The same thing will happen on Noe's State convictions, they will be imposed concurrently to the three years and change that he has accepted from the Feds.
Which means no additional time for the State charges, other than the fact that Bates ordered him immediately held in an Ohio prison until his transfer to a federal minimum security "Club Fed" prison camp, where he will be creditied with the time served in Ohio.
The reality is he will serve 27 months in prison which is why I selected that particular verbage as a title.

Noe has not been found guilty yet on the State charges - he has not even gone to trial yet so it's not clear from what I've read what sentence would even get on the State charges. Even the Tom Noe's of the world are still innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
McCloskey and Noe are made from the same 'power' mold: power at any price.
Makes you wonder who will be next in this local political arena.
By the way, did anybody hear any 'I'm sorry' from the 4 female Noe conduits after wthey were fined a few weeks ago?
Today's sentencing of McCloskey, in my opinion, is a miscarriage of justice. That corrupt motherf***er deserved the maximum for what he did. To me, it seams like a slap on the wrist. McCloskey's not only a crook, but he's an "economic terrorist" who ravaged District 3 (and the City of Toledo, as a whole) with his illicit "pay to play" activities. He deserved to have the book thrown at him.
It is also sad to say that the taxpayers of Toledo will bear the brunt of the pending civil suit related to his extortion attempts.
I agree on the city lawsuit aspect. However to be perfectly fair those that knew that Bob changed his support because the money wasn't coughed up are also responsible. They could have stopped this.
I don't think the community is served by him spending years in prison. His political career is over and those who knew what he was doing or suspected it are still in office. Making McCloskey the total scapegoat is quick and easy but the reality is there are others who helped create this situation or could have at least cared enough about the public interest to have tried to stop it.
Do, thank you, I appreciate your comments very much. I try to be as fair as possible, I don't always succeed but there are most times at least two sides to every story.
The fact that the female defendants didn't publicly apologize for their lesser crimes doesn't correlate with McCloskey's case.
However...
Kudos to Bob, for apologizing.
And, how come only these four women went to court? There were many male participants in these shenanigans, yet not one came up on charges...

I don't disagree with you on that one at all. My 17 year old's best friend was killed by someone who was on drugs and drove his car right into her while she was walking home from getting ice cream. She died, he got less than 2 years in jail.
Somehow taking someone's life especially if that person is under the influence of drugs or alcohol and not some unavoidable car accident and getting that small of a sentence doesn't seem right...
