Interesting news on the eve before the official opening and rally for Ted Strickland's Lucas County Campaign office.
Ohio2006 reports:
The Strickland for Governor and Ohioans for Blackwell campaigns have met three times over the past few weeks in a good faith effort to coordinate gubernatorial debates. Both sides have compromised, and we have agreed upon mutual venues and dates to hold four debates, one each in Youngstown, Cincinnati, Columbus and Cleveland.
The dates were not announced...That's pretty much one constant no matter who is Governor, forgetting we are up here. Anyone want to see if Michigan is still interested?

UPDATE: It appears Jim Tankersley at The Toledo Blade is having some similar thoughts:
Ken Blackwell campaigned near Toledo yesterday, and Ted Strickland plans to open an office here today, but Ohio's two leading candidates for governor will skip the city when debating time rolls around.
There is also a map that is self-explanatory...
UPDATE 2: Ohio 2006 has updated information that it appears there is some problem with one of the Debates. It appears the three newspapers that were to sponsor the one debate do not want to include the Call and Post.

Apparently Northwest Ohio [and western Ohio] are not hotbeds of political fervor.
Why both Cleveland AND Youngstown, while ignoring two whole corners of the state. The southeast was left out too, but there aren't many cities there are there? It doesn't make sense.
I had hoped that one good thing about Chris Redfern having the position he has with the ODP that we might not be treated like an after thought.
It appears I was wrong.

My take on it is that Toledo is being ignored for one reason: CORRUPTION.
1. Tom Noe
2. The current state of the local Democratic Party
3. Carty "being Carty"
4. Lousy elected officials in this area
5. McCloskey getting busted for bribery
I doubt Strickland, Blackwell, Redfern, etc. want to tie themselves to the elements of Toledo's "culture of corrpution." They don't want to look like Boob Tax.
Toledo, expect to get screwed for an additional four years by the state government.
If Strickland and Blackwell think they can get away with ignoring the NWO, "Hollywood" Hogan and Scott Hall are gonna have something to say about that...
Youngstown and Cinci are each essentially the "home turf" for each candidate. (Y-town, while not in Strickland's district is the closest city that identifies with him to some degree.)
That would leave two other locations. Logically, you would take the two largest cities.
At least that's how I'm seeing it.
My take is this:
1. Tom Noe proximity
2. Local Dem A-B split
3. Any sane candidaty would avoid "Cartyville" at all costs.
4. They're both scared to death of Lisa...
