Konop to Lay Out Third Prong of Jobs Plan for Lucas County

Initiative focuses on combating brain drain

(Toledo, OH)- Building on his vision for creating jobs in Lucas County and getting our economy moving again, Democratic candidate for Lucas County Commissioner Ben Konop will today discuss his initiative to help stem brain drain in Lucas County. Konop will be speaking to a Senior civics class at Northview High School (5403 Silica Dr) at 9:15 AM and will outline his proposal at that time. Area media are welcome to attend the class at Northview.


“In order to attain long term economic growth, we need to make a concerted effort to stem Brain Drain and keep young people from leaving our community,” stated Konop. “In the 21st century, having a skilled and educated work force is often the key to a region’s economic well-being. As Commissioner I will visit every high school in the county during my first year in office and not only market Lucas County to the students, but find out what they are looking for in a community,” added Konop.

Konop’s brain drain initiative is the latest in his job creation program for Lucas County. Recently, Konop has called for the creation of a high-tech incubator as well as a beefed up small-business loan program administered by the county. “Creating 21ST century jobs and growing our economy is my number one priority,” stated Konop.

In a poll conducted by the respected Zogby polling firm and released on Sunday, Konop was leading his Republican opponent in the race for Commissioner by over 17% (48.3-31.2). “I’m encouraged by the results, and will continue to work hard and spread my message of fresh ideas and real change for Lucas County,” added Konop.
