While in the post below is a person or persons who are pretty trashy in my book, it's time to once again turn to the topic of alley garbage collection with some updated information and some questions that have still not been answered.
Thanks to one of our readers of the blog we know:
An informational meeting regarding curbside pickup for all members of the Teamster Local 20 employed at the City Of Toledo Division of Solid Waste has been scheduled for Saturday October 28. Yes, this is two days before the new policy takes place.
I'm going to list the concerns I have stated both here and thru emails and will provide the responses in italics where they have been given.
The City Journal states trash collection in alleys must be done in cans and that curb collection can be in bags or cans. There is no mention of the discontinuation of alley service. Can you clarify?
Effective Monday, October 30th, all alley collection (except for those residents specifically notified in writing) will be moving from alley to curbside. For those few residents that will remain on alley collection, they cannot utilize bags for their refuse collection.
How will residents be informed of this change? Most of my neighbors were not aware of it.
We will be distributing flyers door-to-door to the affected areas
I expressed my concern that in neighborhoods such as mine where a great deal of people must use street parking since they don't have usuable driveways that it will be more difficult for curbside trash pick up here and that it is going to be difficult for garbage to be placed in a manner that the Sanitation Crews will even be able to see it. We have experienced this once with recycling and as I pointed out, that cannot be blamed on the Recycling Crew, they cannot pick up what they cannot see.
I'll update when I get either the flyer or written notification, if you receive either please post so we can track how this is working and of course we will continue to monitor all of the trash here at Glass City Jungle...

It is almost beyond the belief the level of poor planning on this matter.
This is not a new problem, the trashy look to the alleys and yet like Rip Van Winkle waking from a long nap the city leaders see a problem and a knee jerk reaction takes place.
Is it any wonder why the approval rating of the city leadership is slipping.

I’m not too sure about the knee, but there’s definitely a jerk reaction going on here.
You see, when the Charlatan is made to think, not rethink, one of his edicts, he always buries a twist in his change order, just to let everyone know that he’s still in charge. It’s one of his predictable ego quirks.
