Konop to “Walk 30 Miles for Change” Throughout Lucas County

Democratic Candidate plans county-wide trek focusing on key campaign issues

(Toledo, OH) –

• Walk begins Saturday, Oct. 21, 1 PM, Monroe & Main in Sylvania
• Ends Wednesday evening at his grandparents’ first home on Parkwood in Toledo
• Konop will be accompanied by supporters along the walk route


Democratic candidate for Lucas County Commissioner Ben Konop will begin his 30 mile county-wide "Walk for Change 2006" on Saturday, October 21st, at 1 PM beginning at the intersection of Monroe and Main Street in Sylvania. The focus for Saturday’s walk is “Ending Brain Drain,” one of Konop’s many strategies for strengthening Lucas County. Konop will have two Lucas County high school seniors accompanying him.

On Sunday afternoon (Oct. 22), Konop will continue his journey at 2 PM, beginning at the Stranahan Theatre. Because Konop’s focus for Sunday is “Senior Issues,”
he will be stopping at the Senior Citizen Complex on Arlington and S. Detroit.

On Monday, October 23rd, Konop will walk for jobs, starting at 1 PM at Airport and Reynolds and ending at the Ford Maumee Stamping Plant, where Konop will meet and greet employees as their shift changes over, and hear their concerns and ideas.

Tuesday, October 24th, will feature a “Walk for Small Businesses” beginning at 1 PM at Bayview Park in Point Place and concluding on Consaul Street, where Konop will eat dinner at one of Toledo’s most successful small businesses, Tony Packo's.

The final day of the five-day cross-county trek will be Wednesday, Oct 25th. Starting at the UT law school where he serves on the faculty, Konop will “Walk for the American Dream,” literally re-tracing his roots from the law school to his grandparents first home in Toledo, located on Parkwood Avenue. Konop will be met there by his parents, Barbara & Alan Konop.
