Continuing in the better late than never blog coverage category, Lucas County Commissioner candidate Ben Konop received the endorsement in an editorial today in the Toledo Blade.

Yea Ben! For once, The Blade gets it right.
What the heck? I'm not voting for Konop because he has no practical experience of any kind. On the other hand, the current crop of Commissioner's have been less than stellar.
So if Konop is for change, what decisions of the Democratic controlled Commissioner office does he disagree with?
You know what, Anonymous #2??? Every single politician out there had no experience at the beginning of their career...and yet, somehow they managed to get elected and start down their political path.
Ben is no different than any of those people.
I just don't understand why people such as Anonymous and Ben's opponent see "no experience" as a valid reason to not vote for a candidate. Everyone has to start somewhere, and this is where Ben is choosing to start.
Lucas County needs some fresh thinking and fresh ideas and Ben is the right person to do that. Why, with the current state of local (and statewide) politics would we want to go with the status quo?
I will agree with Anon #1....for once The Blade got something right.

And you're right about the experience too....I think real world experience is just as valuable as anything else out there.
Problem is Ben doesn't even have real world experience. He has never held a real job that he kept for longer than a semester. He bounces from state to state to county to county looking for an office to run. But the real quesiton, is, who's shocked the Blade endorsed their hand picked candidate. Ben said the Blade wanted him to win and that's what will happen.

Indeed, in fact a lack of experience could be a good thing; no previously learned bad habits to practice ;-)
